Shelley Peachell
I’m Shelley, and I’m lucky enough to call beautiful British Columbia home, where my husband and I run a backcountry ski lodge alongside our border collie, Cooper. My passion for adventure has always shaped my life, and at 45 it led me to bike racing. A couple of years later, I became an XTERRA World Champion, and I fell head-over-heels for the pursuit of pushing my athletic limits.
Mountain biking has always been where my heart lives, so I eventually stepped away from XTERRA to focus fully on racing off-road. Now, at 53, I’m still racing hard and specializing in longer, more technical events — with recent wins at 24HOP, Oregon Gravel Grinder, Cactus Cup, BWR AZ, and RPI.
I race to represent the “forgotten athlete” — the woman over 50 who still shows up with fire, ability, grit, and zero interest in the limitations others try to place on her. I’m proof that you can start racing at any age, and that strength, confidence, and resilience only grow with time.
Joining a team like DTE feels like a dream come true. I’m excited to learn from my teammates, contribute to something bigger, and keep pushing the idea that there is no age limit in sport.
