Starla Teddergreen
I’m Starla Teddergreen, a 46-year-old professional cyclist proudly based in Colorado, with over 20 years of racing experience across road, gravel, and mountain biking. From the UCI WorldTour to the toughest off-road stage races on the planet, my career has been defined by grit, growth, and a steady climb to the top—earning podiums and recognition at every level of the sport.
In 2022, I was diagnosed with MS. Instead of stepping back, I chose to lean in. I continued training, racing, and rebuilding my body with determination. Since then, I’ve competed in the Life Time Grand Prix, raced the legendary Absa Cape Epic, and in both 2024 and 2025, was selected to represent Team USA at the UCI MTB Marathon World Championships. These experiences have reinforced what I believe most deeply: strength isn’t about avoiding obstacles, it’s about showing up—again and again.
Advocate for Women in Cycling
One of my greatest passions is helping create a cycling world where more women feel welcome, supported, and safe. I collaborate closely with race promoters nationwide to increase female participation, and in 2026, I’m expanding this work with a major focus on women-only starts—fighting for equitable, confidence-building race environments for all levels of riders.
My goal goes beyond competing at the highest level, I want to help create a culture where more women feel confident showing up and claiming their place in the sport.
Founder of Distance To Empty
I’m also the co-founder and driving force behind DTE, this grassroots, women-focused cycling program that breaks down the financial, emotional, and logistical barriers that keep athletes from the start line. Through DTE, we’ve built a Colorado-rooted community that lifts one another up—whether someone is chasing a world championship or finishing their first 50-mile ride.
We lead by example, show up for each other, and believe deeply that everyone deserves their place on the start line.
